What happens if I don't show up for small claims court?

I owe my previous landlord money and we had set up a payment arrangement starting next month. As long as I gave him a certain amount each month he was not going to sue me. Well I just got a letter from small claims court, the d*ck is taking me to court anyway. I am basically sh*tting bricks right now. I am in NO condition to have my wages garnished, I can barely make ends meet as it is. So, what happens if I don't show up? I don't care if it goes on my credit, I'll worry about that later when I have the means to fix it. I need some advise please help. Thanks in advance.
